Turkish airstrikes claim lives of tens of civilians, military personnel 

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Since November 20 up to this report was filed, Turkish air strikes against north and northeast Syria have left tens of victims of civilians and military personnel of Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and Syrian government forces.   

Since the very first moment of the Turkish airstrikes up to now, North Press has documented the deaths of 13 civilians, four fighters of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and 20 soldiers of Syrian government forces while 18 civilians, six SDF fighters and 11 Syrian soldiers were injured in barrages of Turkish shelling on north and northeast Syria.   

On November 22, SDF Media Office announced 13 deaths including a journalist and 9 injuries mostly in the city of Derik (al-Malikiyah) in the far northeast Syria.  

Names verified are: Hadiya Abdullah, Nuri al-Jeftji, Hussein Khelto, Hussein Ali, Jijek Harouni, Ubaid Khaled, Hilal Qassem, Mazen Oseh, Fayez Abdullah, Mahmoud Ali and Issam Abdullah a local Kurdish journalist working for the Qamishli-based Hawar News Agency (ANHA), who was covering Turkish airstrikes on the village of Taqil Baqil in the countryside of Derik.  

A medical source from Kobani Hospital, in the city of Kobani in northern Syria, told North Press Muhammad al-Jaradeh, Sterk TV’s correspondent, incurred injuries at the head.

On November 21, two civilians were slightly injured in a Turkish shelling against a number of villages in the north of Aleppo Governorate.  

On the very same day, two persons incurred sever injuries in a drone strike against a village in the countryside of Amuda, east of Qamishli, on the border with Turkey.

On the following day, two civilians were injured in a similar act on the village of al-Oja in the northwest of Tel Tamr town of Hasakah.

On Wednesday, a Turkish aircraft targeted al-Masraf Road close to the M4 in Tirbe Spi (al-Qahtaniyah) that led to the injury of Abdurrahman al-Ahmad, 22, and Ibrahim al-Muhammad, 43, both civilians, a source told North Press. 

Two other civilians were injured in a Turkish artillery shelling on the countryside of the town of Zirgan (Abu Rasin) in the northern countryside of Hasakah, northeast Syria.   

On November 20, 13 soldiers of the Syrian government forces were killed and seven others were injured in Turkish airstrikes against the village of Shawargha in Aleppo northern countryside. One soldier was severely injured in a similar act on the village of Qazali, east of Kobani.  

On the same day, three soldiers were killed and a fourth incurred injuries in a Turkish shelling on the countryside of Zirgan.  

On November 22, a Syrian soldier incurred injuries by a Turkish sniper in front of the border gate between the city of Nusaybin southeast Turkey, and that of Qamishli in northeastern Syria.

On the very same day, a Syrian soldier was killed in shelling on the village of Maraanaz, north of Aleppo.  

A data revealed by the SDF shows two Syrian soldiers deaths and similar injuries in villages in the north of Aleppo.

An SDF fighter lost his life in a Turkish shelling against Kobani on November 20.

On Tuesday, a Turkish drone struck the headquarter of Counter-Terrorism Units (YAT) affiliated with SDF within a joint base with the US-led Global Coalition to Defeat ISIS in north of Hasakah. Two YAT members lost their lives and three others sustained injuries.

On Wednesday, a Turkish drone struck the joint Russian- SDF al-Mabaqer base in the town of Tel Tamr in which an SDF fighter lost his life and three others injured.

Information cited above have been obtained by North Press correspondents and private sources covering the whole region since the very moment of the launching of the aerial operation up to the report was filed.
